FA Intermediate Trauma Medical Management in Football this course is for Sport and Exercise Therapy students only. This course will enable you to lead the medical team with advanced lifesaving techniques.

 

Detailed Description

Endorsed by The Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh, this course will build on advanced immediate care skills and giving you experience that will allow you to act as the primary care provider in the sports, pre-hospital environment of football.

This is a two-day course that will be delivered at Solent University. This course is delivered through a range of practical and theory workshops, with supporting demonstrations and question and answer sessions to meet all your needs.

There is a minimum recommendation of 12-16 hours of pre-course preparation and a pre-course assessment plus certificates from online learning to be submitted in advance of attendance.

Content on the day will focus on:
- Medico-legal issues and duty of care in football
- Emergency action planning for football
- Primary A-E approach of the injured player
- Sudden Cardiac Arrest in football
- Basic Life Support (BLS) with use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED)
- Airway management and oxygen therapy
- Limb threatening fractures/ dislocations and their emergency management
- Head injuries and The FA concussion guidelines
- Spinal injury and management (inclusive of extrication)
- Medical emergencies in football
