A 3-weapons course with Equity/ Spotlight recognised qualifications (Sword & Gauntlet, single sword, unarmed).
Detailed Description
Combat course delivered by Marie Drisch on 2nd - 6th June 1000 - 1700 (you will need to attend every session) Exam fee is included. Attending stage combat classes not only builds essential skills but also familiarizes students with the language and expectations of fight directors in the West End. Since production schedules often allocate limited time for combat scenes, prior knowledge significantly increases a performer’s chances of being hired. Plus, it makes the process smoother for the fight director and less stressful for the actor.
1. Unarmed stage combat is essential for any performer—whether delivering a slap, a punch, a dramatic fall, or a good reaction to being punched, these skills are the foundation of safe and believable action on stage. Unarmed combat is a core skill in countless West End Productions: The crucible, the curious incident of the dog in the night-time, Stranger things, Richard II at the Bridge theatre, Frankenstein...
2. Mastering single sword (rapier, sabre, smallsword) and sword with companion weapon is essential for performers, adding safety and realism to dramatic duels. From the classic clashes in Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, Hamlet, to fights in The Three Musketeers and the Comedy sabre fight in The play that goes wrong, these skills are vital for the stage.
3. Those are also very relevant for films and TV: Game of Thrones, Robin Hood, Daredevil, The Witcher, etc
