Solent International Language Programme


Classes are typically 3 hours a week (a 2 hours seminar and 1 hour tutorial).

Course starts W/C 25th September 2017 and runs throughout the academic year.

All class are taught by highly experienced language lecturers. The language department offers different levels of language according to your previous learning experience.            

Which level should I choose?

  •      Introductory = If you are a beginner, or have passed GCSE with grade D or lower, or studied the language to CEFR A1 standard. (Chinese, French, German, Italian, Spanish.)


  •      Lower Intermediate = If you have GCSE with grades A-C; studied the language to CEFR A2 standard. (French, German, and Spanish)


  •      Upper Intermediate = If you have AS grades A-E / A1 course; studied the language to CEFR B1 standard. (French and Spanish only)


  •      Advanced = If you have A level; studied the language to CEFR B2 standard. (French and Spanish only)

As per the University fee and payment regulations, the following refund policy applies to the international language programme:

Students attending a course lasting less than a year remain liable for the full fee regardless of date of withdrawal.

Introduction to Teaching English as a Foreign Language



In this unit you will learn how to teach English as a foreign language. You will be given the opportunity to teach English to some of our international students. You will learn the theory in TEFL. By the end of the Unit you should feel confident to teach in a classroom setting accross the globe.
